Our first grade classes recently read about John Chapman, also known as, Johnny Appleseed. First graders celebrated Johnny Appleseed by participating in the first annual Apple Celebration Day. Students engaged in various arts and crafts, projects, and apple learning activities. Students made paper hats to wear like Johnny, painted with apples, learned about the parts of an apple, taste tested different kinds of apples, and made their own original tear art apple picture! Students were also treated to a wide variety of apples snacks and drinks made possible with parent support. Finally, at the end the day students were able to see how applesauce is made and taste homemade applesauce in their classrooms. It was a fun and engaging way to enjoy learning about this healthy snack so many of us love to eat! Thank you to everyone who helped to make this a memorable learning experience!
