Here is a review video to help everyone work through the graded worksheet “Making Predictions” that was sent out in the April 15th packet. This activity corresponds with the story The Woodpecker for my AM group and Smelly Clyde for my PM group. Something that engaged readers do while they’re reading is make predictions. Remember, a prediction is just a good guess about what might happen next in a story. While I'm reading, I use the information from the text, any illustrations, and what I already know to help me make predictions. As I read, I keep track of my predictions and change or add to them as I read more of the story.

good morning everyone I just wanted to touch base with some of you to help out a little bit with the making prediction worksheet that was sent out in the April 15th packet this activity corresponds with the story the Woodpecker warm I am group and a story smelly 5 p.m. group does something good readers do other reading is making a prediction a prediction is just a good guess about what might happen next in a story well I'm reading I use the information from the text strange things that I might see and what I already know to help me make a prediction I try to keep track of my predictions change or add to them as I go to story what this is called is revising its revising your thinking as you gain more information so what I'm going to do right now is jump to the worksheet so that we can review the steps of making predictions together so I'm going to share with you our screen making predictions if you look at the sheet here at the top it says make predictions again this is what you will predict will happen in the story you haven't started the store yet all you've done so far this point is take a picture walk you have your story in your hand whether it be the Woodpecker or smelly Clyde go through and through some of the pages look at any of the illustration and ask yourself what do you think will happen this story this is where you will write down your first prediction read through the text you make any changes to your thinking and that's what you're going to do in this revised bubble right here anything new that you discover you at it and you right what you now think might happen in the next again these are all educated guesses so your responses really there aren't any right and wrong there are better thought and as long as you're looking at the text thinking about what you're reading you'll be on track with a good prediction the last part of this scene I want you to look at is the confirm and this is after you finish the story you read it to me and this is where you write down what actually happened you can't even compare where you thought originally and put in any thought maybe you were surprised by something that you had learned maybe ad I didn't expect this what happened in the story because but the confirm section is where you put what actually happened again this is the activity sheet that is one of the two graded worksheet that you will see lifted on our parent narrative that is included with all of the package that will be sending home for distance learning students will be graded on their ability to create the making predictions and 5w if anyone has any questions about either one of the greatest materials please do not hesitate to reach out to me at Krause that is Krause de pollo red.com I look forward to seeing some of being completed and turned in I wish you all well take care
