Daily Schedule

                                      A.M. Schedule (First Group: 15 students)

8:30-9:10 (Opening Exercises)

  • Make lunch choices, send papers to office, and complete and review morning work
  • Morning message and class song

9:10-9:45 Chapter Book Read Aloud and Spelling Spelling

  • Chapter book read loud (reinforce story elements and grammar skills)
  • Introduce/complete individualized spelling list sorts

9:45-10:25 Grammar and Whole Group Reading Instruction (40 minutes)

  • Introduce/review weekly grammar skills (15 min. whole group mini-lesson)
    • Interactive Writing Notebook (IWN) teaches skills, phonemic awareness
  • (Genre Study) shared reading selection; teach/review reading strategies/skills (25 min. whole group)
  • *RR Break at 10:25
    • Interactive read aloud (IRA) teaches comprehension

10:30-11:00  Group A Science (Group B remains for Guided Reading)

11:00-11:36   Group B Science (Group A returns for Guided Reading) 

  • Kutch meets with her groups (11:00-11:35)

11:40-12:10   LUNCH

P.M. Schedule (Second Group: 18 students)

12:15-12:45 Chapter Book Read Aloud and Spelling

  • Chapter book read loud (reinforce story elements and grammar skills)
  • Introduce/complete individualized spelling list sorts

12:45- 1:05 Grammar and Whole Group Reading Instruction (20 minutes)

  • Introduce/review weekly grammar skills (10 min. whole group mini-lesson)
    • Interactive Writing Notebook (IWN) teaches skills, phonemic awareness
  • (Genre Study) shared reading selection; teach/review reading strategies/skills (10 min. whole group)
    • Interactive read aloud (IRA) teaches comprehension

1:05- 1:30 Guided Reading Groups

-Meet with 2 groups per/day for 15 minutes each

1:35-2:00 RECESS

2:10-2:50 Itinerant Class

2:55-3:25 Activity Period   *RR Break at 2:50 

  • Make-Up Test Time
  • Meet with struggling students
  • Work on Homework
  • - 3:30- Dismissal
