Guidance Services

The primary responsibility of the elementary guidance counselor is to meet the needs of the elementary school children who may be experiencing academic, emotional, social, and/or behavioral concerns.  
 
The elementary guidance counselor is responsible for:
  • Coordinating the Child Study Team
  • Supervising and coordinating the elementary testing program.
  • Maintaining elementary school individual records/files and dissemination of these records as requested.
  • Consulting with parents concerning records, testing, behavior concerns, etc. of students.
  • Assisting teachers and principals with the elementary school promotion/retention policies.
  • Consulting/coordinating with the personnel of the Intermediate Unit.
  • Work in cooperation with the building principal and classroom teacher to implement curriculum regarding social behaviors (anti-bullying, conflict resolution, etc.) and career opportunities.
